Colten has maybe one issue and that is if you raise a hand to him and strike him, he will latch on with his teeth and not let go. Even when you're bleeding because he needs you to understand the consequences to your actions.

when it comes to my beastkin, they live in a world where humans are aware of their presence, they don't bother hiding the animalistic traits that make them who they are.

my birds ( salem, elliot, ezra & ogun ), most of their fingers are talon-like, they stress-grip and make trilling noises, that haunting gunshot noise shoebills make, that loud noise hawks make, and for salem and elliot, you can tell they're phoenixes, because they're pale enough to see the fire in their veins. most of my birds, their wingspan will always be five times the width of their body ( it's suppose to support their weight ) and yes, they do have somewhat hollow bones but most of them have musculature skeletons that can handle harsh landings.

same with my predators, all my cats tend to make growling noises, they knock shit off tables, hiss, they have tails. most of this is not hidden, they can half-shift, and fully shift without a seconds notice, especially if in an emotional state. they get the zoomies, they go into heats ( where applicable for their animal ) and they have mating instincts.

and for some of them, but especially for my cats and birds, more specifically for my birds (i.e elliot and salem ), they tend to have like feathers hidden in their hair, or light feathers along their spine, they hop, and coo, and trill when happy, they make distressed noises. they're not human, they're still beasts no matter how pretty the human skin is.

colten is a shower singer. and yes, he sings offkey. no he does not care.

colten dislikes being groomed, something about it makes him so fucking pouty. like let him be wild ! but eventually, he's just like, okay never mind, please trim my nails and give me a good fur brushing please. he's very contradictory that way, but he doesn't mean to be. he's just fussy.

Colten makes a little huff sound when he gets irritated, and it's the cutest shit ever. And because he can't stay mad for long, his friends away know to back off when he makes that song because he's not easily irritated.

colten can make friends with anyone, even people who don't think themselves capable of befriending anyone. he's just really friends, but like any dog, he does go off vibes and if you don't give him good vibes, he's side-eyeing you.

colten isn't a hoarder, but he has shelves in his room of things he's picked up over the years that have sentimental value to him, mostly just like seashells and such.

colten who becomes clingy in the fall because he thinks everyone needs to have a good cuddle when it gets cold.

colten loves tummy rubs. he will be shameless about it. you rub his tummy and his tail is knocking over everything.

colten dislikes being groomed. let him be wild. but also, he's such a giver that he doesn't really take well to someone taking care of him. it's something his family has always had an issue with. they try but he just smiles and they cave so easily and just let him be.

colten doesn't cuss. he will say things like fudge, or sugar because it just feels weird to him. he's probably ever say damn, but he doesn't really consider that a curse.

colten is from a family of two, his mother and his grandmother. he grew up an only child and honestly it was a normal life. he was able to simply live his life, with such strong women who uplifted him at any chance. but colten doesn’t have an idea what he wants to do. he’s worked odd jobs here and there, only keeping them for months at a time, but once he moved from country to country, he came across itachi’s shop a few months ago and fell in love. always someone who lived vicariously through books, he actually ended up speaking in detail about a book he was reading with itachi ( not knowing he was the owner ) and was dumbfounded when itachi inquired about him wanting a job. it’s been almost four months and colten thinks he might have found his dream job. between restocking books, making orders and managing the small space for drinks and snacks, he truly doesn’t think an opportunity will come like this again.

Colten is an only child with two strong anc doting women in his life that have always provided him with stability in all forms. There's a lot that he's still learning about, but at his core, he cares so much about people. Human or not, the moment he sees someone hurting, emotionally or physically, he's there immediately.

He's someone who simply knows how to have differing opinions while also being firm in that those are opinions and not facts. Colten doesn't hold grudges because they are too exhausting to hold onto, when he knows friendships have ended for less, and friendships are sacred to him. He loves making others laugh, loves knowing he can brighten someone's day and be a listening ear.

His bad traits definitely are when he stops listening to someone the second they're mean to him, he quite literally erases them from his memory because why give them the time of day. But he only does this after giving them too many chances to reflect on their actions.
